Sergio Azzolini, bassoon, performed a joint recital at the Chiostro Dell' Abbazia Di San Colombano, Bobbio, Italy, on August 25, 1992 with Allessandro Comellato, piano. Bassoon works performed were the Sonata in G major BWV 1027 (originally for viola da gamba and cembalo) by J.S. Bach, the Concerto Sona for piano with bassoon accompaniment by Rossini, and the Saint-Säens Sonata Op. 168.

On August 23,1992 Azzolini was joined by Renate Greiss, flute, Ingo Goritzki, oboe, and Roberto Menichetti, harpsichord, at the Santuario Della Madonna Dell' Aiuto, Bobbio, for a chamber music recital. Works performed were the Quartet in D Major for flute, oboe, bassoon and continuo by G.P. Telemann, the Bachianas Brasilieras No. 6 for flute and bassoon, by Villa-Lobos, Pezzo Fantastico for flute, oboe, and bassoon by Isang Yun, the Duo for oboe and bassoon by Villa-Lobos, and the Quartet in D minor for flute, oboe, bassoon, and continuo by Telemann.

BASSOON 4, (Jane Holt, Jerry Leeper, Cathy McGuire, and Karen Strohmeyer) performed a concert in the Governor's Mansion in Springfield, Illinois. Works performed were Fanfare-Rondeau by Jean Joseph Mouret (arr. by Marc Reift), Stardust by Hoagy
Carmichael (arr. by Robert Hughes), You Made Me Love You by Jerome Kern (arr. by Bill Holcombe), Concerto Grosso in B-flat Major by Antonio Vivaldi (transcribed for bassoon quartet by Alan Hawkins), The Doo-Dah Suite: Camptown Races, II Jeanie, III
Swanee River, by Stephen Foster (arr. by Bill Holcombe), Alexander's Ragtime Band by Irving Berlin (arr. by Jack Gale), St. Louis Blues by W.C. Handy (arr. by Bill Holcombe), Pleasant Moments (Ragtime Waltz) by Scott Joplin (transcribed by Ralph Sauer), Thats A-Plenty (arranged by Jack Gale), and Under the Boardwalk (arranged by John Standfield).

John Campbell, bassoon, performed the Concertino for Clarinet and Bassoon, Op. 47 by Franz Danzi with Mary More, clarinet, accompanied by the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, John Faner, conductor on January 10, 1993 at the Convention Center in Bakersfield, California.

William Chinworth, bassoon, performed the Terzetto Op. 22 by Casimir T. Lalliet with James Heider, oboe, and Mary Lansdale, piano at a concert entitled "Music by Twos and Threes" on October 10, 1992 at the Prescott Fine Arts Theater, Prescott, Arizona.

David Debolt, bassoon, performed a Faculty Recital at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, on March 3, 1992, assisted by Jerry Davidson, piano, Frank Wiley, harpsichord, Colin Anderson, bassoon and contrabassoon, and Roberto Iriarte and Timothy Bishop, bassoons. Works performed were the Telemann Sonata in F Minor, the Sonata for Bassoon and Piano (1988) by Arnold Cooke, the David Concertino, and Earth Prayers: Kyrie Orbis Factor Variations (1991) by David DeBolt, (with an electronic tape realized by Colin Anderson).

Yoshiyuki Ishikawa, bassoon, performed a Faculty Recital at the University of Colorado, Boulder, on October 6, 1992, assisted by Phillip Aaholm, clarinet, David Baker and Susan Hess, bassoons, Paul Crowley, contrabassoon, James Brody, oboe, Judith Glyde, cello, Elizabeth Farr, harpsichord, and Robert Spillman, piano. Works performed were the Bach Suite in Eb for unaccompanied bassoon, the Sonatine pour Hautbois et Basson (1963) by André Jolivet, the Suite #2 for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Piano by Alec Wilder, the Mozart Sonata for bassoon and cello, the Suite d'apres Corrette, Op. 161, for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon by Darius Milhaud, and the Corrette Concerto-Le Phenix.

The Kent Bassoon Ensemble (David DeBolt, Jim Bishop, Bonnie Blankenship, Roberto Iriarte, Jennifer Lytle, Dawn Petersen, Natasha Westerman, and Paul Winsow, bassoons, Roberto Iriarte, Natasha Westerman, and Paul Winsow, contrabassoons, Frank Wiley and Bonnie Blankenship, harpsichords) performed on the Wind Chamber Music 1 Concert at Kent State University, Kent Ohio, on December 2, 1992. Works performed were Quartet in C Major by Telemann (arr. by Alan Hawkins), L'Orefeo Suite by Monteverdi (arr. by John Iskra), Sonata in G Minor, Op. 2 No. 8 by Handel, Humorous Scherzo, Op. 12, No. 9, by Prokofiev, and Have Yourself a Minimalist Christmas (1990) by Ralph Hays.

Robert Koper, bassoon, performed the works Aria and Scherzo by C.A. Julstrom in a recital by pianist Rosa Drake Julstrom, on September 20, 1992 at the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb, Illinois. (C.A. Julstrom is the recently deceased husband of Rosa Julstrom. (These works are reviewed elsewhere in this issue.)

Richard Lottridge, bassoon, performed a Faculty Recital at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, on Jan. 31, 1993, assisted by Linda Bartley, clarinet; Carroll Chilton, piano; Mark Fink oboe; Stephanie Jutt, flute; John Chappell Stowe, harpsichord; Todd Welbourne, piano;
and Carol Rosing, Stephanie Whitson and Lori Wooden, bassoons. Works performed were: Prelude de Conceit, Op. 53,1953, by Gabriel Pierne; Child's Play for bassoon and piano, by David Ward-Steinman; Suite No. 2 for clarinet, bassoon and piano, by Alec Wilder; Quartet in D minor for flute, oboe, bassoon, and continuo by Telemann and Corrette's Le Phenix.

Mr. Lottridge and Mr. Fink also performed the Concerto for Trumpet, Oboe, and Bassoon by Francesco Biscogli with John Alley, trumpet, and the Madison Chamber Players with James Smith, Conductor at Madison on Feb. 12,1993. Both players also performed in the Stravinsky
Octet on the same program.

Susan Nigro, contrabassoon, performed Konterbande for Contrabassoon and Orchestra by Karl-Heinz Koper with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, Barbara Schubert, conductor, on October 17, 1992 at North Central College, Naperville, Illinois. She also gave the World Premiere of the Concerto for Contrabassoon and Chamber Orchestra, Op. 30, by Frank E. Warren with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Dieter Kober, conductor, on January 17, 1993 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Susan also performed A Bassoon Recital: 1 Octave Lower at Valparaiso University on September 10th, Vanderpael Gallery on September 17th, and Concordia College on September 24, 1992 - all in the Chicago area. Works performed were the Sonata #3 in A Minor by Karl Stamitz, Concertpiece by Burrill Phillips, Burlesque by Bozza, and the Mozart Concerto (with cadenzas by Willard Elliot) all on the contrabassoon. For an encore Ms Nigro played the world premiere performance of Waltz by Ralph Nicholson.

The Northwind Quintet (Angelita Floyd, flute, Tom Barry, oboe, Jack Graham, clarinet, Thomas Trittle, horn, and David Rachor, bassoon) performed a Faculty Recital at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls on December 2, 1992. Works performed were the first and third
movements from the Italian Concerto by Bach (arr. by Jack Graham), Summer Music, Op. 31 by Samuel Barber, Six Bagatelles by Gyorgy Ligeti, Vivace from the Concerto in D Major by Telemann/Graham (Thomas Trittle, horn soloist), The Finale from the Reicha Quintet in E flat,
Op. 88, No. 2, Ugros by Ferenc Farkas, The Roaring Twenties arr. by Paul Nagle, Sailor's Hornpipe arr. by Fred Huffer, Saxophobia by Rudy Wiedoeft/Graham (Tom Barry, Saxophone), and Spangles by John W. Bratton/Braham.

David Rachor, bassoon, performed a Faculty Recital at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, on October 22, 1992, assisted by Angelita Floyd, flute, Randy Hogancamp, percussion, Todd Seelye, guitar, and Kathleen Sihler, viola. Works performed were the Elgar Romance, Op. 62 (1910), the Sonata for Bassoon and Guitar, Op. 13, by Karl Andreas Goepfert, Trio for flute, Viola, and Bassoon (1934) by Malcolm Arnold, Triptych for Bassoon and Percussion (1991) by Bernard van Beurden, and Variations sur 'Au Clair de la Lune" by Gebauer.

Harold Robison, bassoon, performed a Faculty Recital at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, on October 13, 1992, assisted by Janice Robison, piano and harpsichord, Donna Conaty, oboe, Scott Holmes, violin, Galen Kelch, cello, Matthew Stanley, trombone, T. Scott Coffey, alto
saxophone, Patrick Madden, bassoon, and Gene Swenson, percussion. Works performed were Sonata sopra 'Ea Monica" for violin, bassoon and cembalo by Philipp Friedrich Boddecker, Sonata in A for oboe, violin, trombone, bassoon, and continuo by Matthias Weckmann, the Concerto by Victor Bruns, Branches for two bassoons and percussion by Paul Chihara, and Concerto #2 for saxophone, bassoon, and clavecin by Marguerite Roesgen-Champion.

David Sogg, bassoon, performed a Benefit Recital for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank at Duquesne University on October 26, 1992, assisted by Richard Sogg, piano, Joen Vasquez and Mark Jakobs, viola, and David Premo, cello. Works performed were the Quartet in Bb, Op. 46, No. 1 by Franz Krommer, Suite in G Minor for unaccompanied bassoon by Jean David Braun, Divertimento on Themes from Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" for bassoon and piano by Antonio Torriani, Sonata in G Minor, Op. 24, No. 5 for bassoon and continuo by Francois Devienne, and Interferences I for bassoon and piano by Roger Boutry.

The Wingra Woodwind Quintet (Stephanie Jutt, flute; Mark Fink, oboe; Linda Bartley, clarinet; Nancy Brecknell, horn; and Richard Lottridge, bassoon) performed a Faculty Recital at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, on Feb. 6, 1993 with guest artist Soren Hermansson,
horn. Works performed were Concerto No. 2 (after Vivaldi) by J.S. Bach/Mordechai Rechtman; Quintet (1980) by John Harbison; Variations on the Spanish "La Folia" by Conrad Dejong; and Sextet, Op. 271 by Carl Reinecke.
