[On January 27, 1993, I.D.R.S. Secretary Yoshi Ishikawa sent
the following letter of congratulations to Japan, following the
announcement of the founding of the Japan Bassoon Society:]
Dear Mr. Sugawara:
The American bassoonists listed below extend their congratulations
to the members of the newly established Japan Bassoon Society.
February 21, 1993 is indeed an auspicious event for double reed
players around the world. With the formation of the Japan Bassoon
Society, the international community of double reed players represented
by the I.D.R.S., German Double Reed Society and the British Double
Reed Society have now opened a bridge for global communication
that extends from North America, Europe and to Japan. We look
forward to crossing this new bridge to share information, interests
and ideas. We extend our warmest and best wishes to the formation
and future success of the Japan Bassoon Society.
