Janice Kay [Hatchew] Rasmussen of Milford, Michigan, died Nov.
13, 1992, at the age of 55. She was born in Flint in 1937, and
studied music at Interlochen. She earned a bachelors degree from
Central Michigan University in 1959 and a Master of Arts in music
from Eastern Michigan in 1976 where she taught bassoon and piano
privately. A number of her students graduated with music degrees
from major universities. Janice performed with a number of ensembles,
including the Opus V woodwind quintet. She was a longtime member
of I.D.R.S. and the Milford
Musicale. The Milford Musicale has founded a scholarship in her
name. This year's first recipient was, like Janice, a bassoonist.
The I.D.R.S. joins Janice Rasmussen's family and many friends
in mourning her passing.
