SCHOOL OF MUSIC – WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY – Assistant/Associate Professor of Oboe

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate preferred – masters degree with significant progress toward the doctorate or professional experience equivalent to doctoral work will be considered; applicant must demonstrate excellence in, and commitment to, performance as both a solo and ensemble artist on the oboe; demonstrated success as a teacher of oboe is required, preferably at the university level. Secondary expertise in music technology, music theory and/or music history is required. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills; in addition, he/she will be expected to maintain an active performance career.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as instructor of applied oboe for both undergraduate and graduate students. Serve as instructor of music technology, music theory, and/or music history. Perform as member of the Western Wind Quintet; maintain a record of performance and professional activities necessary for tenure. Recruitment and service appropriate for a university faculty member required.
