Interlochen Center for the Arts, one of America’s most prestigious institutions for arts education, performance and fine arts presentations seeks to hire an Instructor of Oboe at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Teach oboe
Teach reed making classes
Motivate and Inspire students
Recruit and build a strong studio of students
Coach chamber music,
Conduct studio classes and oboe sectionals for orchestra and band
Classroom teaching in a secondary area (ear training, music theory or class piano), depending on studio load.
Provide evaluation, grading, and attendance of students
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration
Aid students in college audition preparation
Interlochen Center for the Arts values a collegial atmosphere, and the ability to work well within the music department is essential. All faculty are expected to participate in a variety of student and campus activities as well as other work appropriate to the ICA mission

Qualifications
Master of Music degree or performance equivalent in oboe
A teacher of national reputation with extensive teaching experience
An understanding of repertoire and audition preparation for students to enter college or conservatory
An experienced and highly qualified performer, with experience performing in a variety of styles
A thorough understanding of the repertoire and an ability to match repertoire to developing students
Interlochen expects its performance faculty to establish and maintain national visibility and credibility for themselves and their studios through frequent performance on and off campus
Experience with classroom teaching is desirable
