From Pres. Lowry Riggins: "We have now received a formal invitation (for August, 1980) from the University of Edinburgh, and I have accepted for IDRS" Letters have been received from Laurence Taylor who offers to host the Edinburgh Conference and from Professor Michael Tilmouth of the Department of Music, University of Edinburgh, officially extending us a welcome for 1980.
The IDRS has recently concluded an agreement with the Joseph Wood Music Company of Norton, Massachusetts, to publish the prizewinning works of its annual Composition Contest.
In guaranteeing publication to the winners of its competition, the IDRS has created the means essential to the development and support of the art of music. The Joseph Wood Music Company has offered its full cooperation in furthering these mutually desired goals through the facilities of its press and marketing activities here and abroad.
At the present time, contractual arrangements are being concluded with the 1977 contest winners in preparation for an early Spring (1978) publication of their works. In addition, a special catalogue, bearing the IDRS logo-type, will list these compositions and furnish biographical sketches of the composers.

Artist for wonderful frog bassoonists pictured in T.T.W.B., Vol. Vll, No. 2. A letter of thanks from all the bassoonists performing in the Wayne State University bassoonists recital mentioned, "We wish to share our honor with the (program cover's) designer, Miss Susan Alcott. We all owe a debt of gratitude to her." The IDRS thanks you too, Susan, for a great drawing enjoyed by hundreds of double reed musicians around the world!
A Helpful Note from Their Teacher Too: Robert Williams, solo bassoon of the Detroit Symphony and bassoon instructor at Wayne State University, Michigan, sent a post card with, "The G.A.M. study, "Le Basson" by Kergomard and Heinrich is available from: Le Droit Chemin De Musique, 5, rue Fondary, 75015 Paris, France. The price is 41.20 French Francs. It took me about a year to find this out. Happy Bassooning!"
Addenda to Fold-over Shaper Modification. Scott Vigder, whose article "The Shaper Tip Safeguard" appeared in T.T.W.B., Vol. Vll, No. 3, 1977, wrote to explain further about the bevel of the cardboard pieces: "The bevel should be actually on the top of the cardboard. Also, the glue used should be very strong."
