SUMMER STUDY:

1. 15th Annual New College Music Festival, Sarasota Florida, U.S.A., will be held June 3 - June 23, 1979. Applications and audition tapes are due FEBRUARY 1, (Feb. 1) 1979. Oboe and Bassoon Faculty Artists are:

All tapes must be of Reel-to-Reel type and ready to play without rewinding.

2. Inaugural year of the Glickman-Popkin Bassoon Camp. Dates: July 1 to July 7, 1979. Wild-Acres, Little Switzerland, N.C., U.S.A. Fees: $175 covers room and board and all instructional charges. [$75 of the fee should accompany each application.] non-participating spouses may be accommodated for a $100 (room and board) fee.

Loren Glickman and Mark Popkin will provide intensive bassoon teaching, covering all aspects of performance.

Guest lecturers will be: Alan Fox (bassoon acoustics) and James O. Laslie, in residence to provide free basic bassoon adjustments, and will lecture on bassoon repair.

MEMORIAL COMPETITION FOR MUCCETTI.
The Director of the Conservatorio Di Musica A. Boito in Parma, Italy, Maestro Piero Guarino, recently informed Sol Schoenbach of Philadelphia that a national competition (Italy) has been organized for a work for bassoon and string orchestra. The Jury will include Maestri Mortari, Vlad and Bettinelli. First performance to be given at Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan. It is hoped that a prize of 1,000,000 lire may be presented to the winning composer. This competition is held in memory of the celebrated bassoonist/ teacher Enzo Muccetti.

A FITTED REED ROOM AT EASTMAN.
During recent remodeling of the entire building complex of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, reedmakers of all kinds were remembered by the planners. A special room for reedmaking was constructed in the annex practice room building of the school. The accompanying photo did not identify the industrious bassoonists seen benefiting from the fine design and lighting arrangement.
