To the followers and devotees of this column--I thought I was going to make it on this issue, but a new position as department chairman and time have caught up with me. So all I can offer are some new music listings, which is not an article, but, I hope, helpful nonetheless. There is an article in the works on music for oboe and percussion, as well as a plan for oboe -- harpsichord music, a survey of new music for English horn as well as taking a look at what is available for oboe ensembles (trios, quartets, etc.). I would add in closing that I would very much like to hear from oboists in Europe, Australia and Asia who know of new works I could list or consider for inclusion in future articles. Listings would be okay if information about general style, technique, etc. is included; however, actual scores are much better, particularly if I'm to consider them for an article. In the listings the USA and some European composers have been covered, but I'd really like to make the listings and content of my articles as international as possible. So please feel free to pass my name and address on to composer colleagues or publishers as one who's interested in receiving their music to list and discuss. Occasionally, I can perform these pieces, but my role, especially with the increasing number of scores I receive, is now becoming one of listing and discussing where possible, let alone performing! ! So please let me hear from you. If the content of articles and the listings are helpful, I would like to know that too, and also if you have any suggestions for what's not there.
