These people have all been informed by letter and will let me know by July 1 if they can attend. I will let the alternates know their status before July 10.
The semi-finals are tentatively scheduled for Thursday afternoon, August 13, and the finals for Saturday afternoon, August 15. The winners will be announced at the final meeting Saturday evening.
The works to be played at the semi-final competition are the Saint-Saës Sonata, Opus 166 for oboe and piano, or the Sonata, Opus 168 for bassoon and piano by the same composer. For the finals, the three selected finalists will play a movement of these works and the Concertino for oboe and piano by Paladilhe or the Sonata in C Major for bassoon and continuo by J. F. Fasch. (The edition to be used is the Klite Edition published by McGinnis and Marx, New York.)
The awards for the finalists are $500.00 for first place, $250.00 for second place, and $100.00 for third. However, the judges may award these in any manner they choose.
