Arthur J. Ephross, Director of Publications for Southern Music Company, has agreed to publish our winning work from the annual Composition Contest. Southern agrees to give us this service with the stipulation that an evaluation of the program will be made in a few years. Obviously, no company can continue to publish works which are not purchased. Just as obvious is the fact that our Society must purchase and perform these new works if our Composition Contest is to prove of real value. I therefore urge all members to watch for the first publications from Southern, and to plan on purchasing and performing these works. Southern is a well-established company who already have many fine works on the market including the Andraud library and the LeDuc publications. My personal thanks to Mr. Ephross for his efforts on our behalf.
I am pleased to announce that a new home and librarian has been found for the IDRS Library! I have appointed Dr. James C. Prodan as our new librarian. As of now all inquiries to the library should be addressed to him:
Dr. James C. Prodan, LibrarianDr. Prodan has been an active member of the Society for years and we look forward to his work with the library. James is the author of "Oboe Performance Practices and Teaching in the United States and Canada" a most welcome addition to our literature. Welcome aboard, Dr. James C. Prodan!

At the same time let me acknowledge our debt to Dr. Bruce Degen whose diligent efforts have made the library what it is today. He did so well that his university could no longer spare the space for our rather large collection. Thank you, Bruce, for a job well done!
This year will be my last as your President. I feel humble, yet proud, that you have selected me to serve our Society as Secretary, as Treasurer, and now as President. During these years I have had the honor of working with some of the finest people in the world. Without the close co-operation, dedication, knowledge, and love of these people your Society would have long since wilted and died. The amount of work they do on your behalf is astonishing, yet none ever complain, and they keep coming back for more! I would therefore like to publicly acknowledge my debt to them. To the editors; the officers; the Advisory Board, and the many members involved with keeping the Society moving; to the business people who have helped so many times; to the convention hosts who annually present us with such delightful meetings; and to the many members who cared enough to write; thank you. I will carry these memories close to my heart.
