From Gene Griswold, host chairman for the 11 th Annual Conference at Towson State College, Maryland, Aug. 15-18, 1982 comes word of the following tentative plans for performers and clinicians on the program:
James Ostryniec, Assistant 1st Oboe in the Baltimore Symphony and specialist in 20th century music performance practices.
A concert of baroque music on early instruments by David Dutton, Spokane, Washington, and Jesse Read, University of Victoria, British Columbia.
Demonstrations on early instruments from the collections of the Smithsonian Institute and the Library of Congress sponsored by Robert Sheldon, Curator of the musical instrument collections at the Smithsonian and Michael Seyfert from the Library of Congress.
Charles Holdeman, Wilmington, Delaware, is in charge of a program on the French system bassoon which will hopefully include a French system headliner like Luc Loubry, from Liege, Belgium, second prize winner in the 1980 Geneva Competition and a performance by the North American French Bassoon Quartet (Holdeman, Gerald Corey, Kim Laskowski and Ron Klimko) that performed in Edinburgh in 1980.
Gene stresses that these plans are very tentative, based on symphony schedules, availability, etc., but I'm sure you'll agree there seems to be something for everyone on the program. Bravo for your efforts, Gene! More news Later. (Ed.)
