FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Sol Schoenbach

Here's my message -

After reading Gene Griswold's list of potential talent for our next meeting in Towson I poured a double drink and saluted IDRS and the people who put it together. Representatives of major orchestras and institutions up and down the East Coast indicates the depth of IDRS and the willingness of the best players to demonstrate their talents for their colleagues at a time when most everyone is on vacation. It should be the most exciting convention so far and Don Christlieb promises to lead us in a mass farewell that well may be come the hallmark of all future conventions. In the meantime I am constantly amazed at the skill of our young players who seem to have overcome technical and mechanical problems of our instruments. That can only mean more attention to the music with richer, deeper expression. And isn't that the reason we all started playing in the first place? I know we're all in this together because without the intelligent exchange of information in our IDRS publications this would not have come about. So let's get the winter over with and get ready for Towson.
