From the Editor:

This issue includes four articles on the immensely successful Towson conference: a detailed review of the concerts from a "first-time" convention participant, Phil McKenzie, an overview of the oboe performances by Doris DeLoach; vignettes of the convention by Bill Baker; and a report on the Gillet competition by Charles Veazey. I am grateful to all four, especially since other commitments made it impossible for me to attend the whole convention. I was impressed with Gene Griswold's masterful organization; thanks are due to him and his staff.

There are also four articles with an international flavor featuring oboists from Belgium, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.

The next issue will include interviews by Nora Post, a regular contributor to these pages, with leading oboe makers and performers.
