The oboe world recently lost one of its prominent members -- Ben Storch, of New York City and New Jersey, died June 26th. He had been in poor health for the past several years, and the cause of death was a coronary. Ben had played with the Ballet Russe Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Mexico City Symphony, staff orchestra at WOR, and most recently was with the New York City Ballet Co. Orchestra as English horn player. He designed, imported, and sold the Chauvet and Gordet oboes and English horns and the Benwal oboes In many ways he was most helpful to a number of our prominent oboists--his presence and advice will be greatly missed.
