In an effort to streamline the operations of the IDRS, the Executive Committee recently voted to create a new Executive Secretary/Treasurer position and to hire Past President Lowry Riggins for the job. This is a non-elected, paid position. Lowry will be directly responsible to the decisions of the Executive Committee. His primary responsibilities will be to maintain and update the membership list, to handle requests for back issues of the Journal and The Double Reed, and to pay the bills. There have been problems in the past with these areas, and we hope that this effort will help us to better serve you. It is also hoped that a current precise membership list will help the editors to make the deadlines for the publications on a more regular basis.
