IDRS ADOPTS POLICY

At our convention August 1983 in Tallahassee, Florida the International Double Reed Society requested the Executive Committee notify the international community of the following policy adoption:

1. The International Double Reed Society adopted a policy of absolute support for the 1939 international tuning pitch standard of 440 cps for A.

2. The policy would support 440 cps for A tuning standard for all pianos at all our annual meetings and also request those other organizations holding competitions for orchestral instruments to make available pianos at A = 440 for those musicians requesting them.

The International Double Reed Society, now in its 14th year, is one of a number of societies made up of professional performers, teachers and students of wind and string instruments. The IDRS membership includes some of the most respected orchestral players and teachers of oboe and bassoon among its 1200 members in North American and 22 other nations.

We shall appreciate your support of this IDRS policy for the International Double Reed Society.
