Gillet Competiting FinalistsThe fourth edition of the Gillet Performance Competition of the IDRS contained some interesting innovations, including: 1) a larger jury than ever before - ten for the semifinals and eleven for the finals; 2) a separate competition for oboists and bassoonists for two first, second, and third prizes - the first year had oboists and bassoonists mixed and only three prizes, the second was for oboists alone, and the third was solely for bassoonists; and 3) a first prize of a musical instrument - a Kreul oboe, English horn, or oboe d'amore for the oboists and a Schreiber German-system or a Buffet Frenchsystem bassoon for the bassoonists.
