We are happy to introduce the fifth Journal of the International Double Reed Society. It includes articles of wide interest from world-recognized authorities. Opinions expressed in the articles are those of the authors. We are eager to have articles for future Journals on every aspect of the double reed instruments; photographs and musical examples add considerable interest and their use is encouraged. We take this opportunity to extend our thanks to the contributing members of the Society listed below; their generosity helps make the publication of this volume possible.
