FROM THE EDITORS, 1978

We are more and more pleased with the response to our requests for new articles and items about oboe, English horn, bassoon and contra-bassoon for these publications. We hope you will be as happy as we are with the broad range of interesting and useful material presented in this summer's Journal.

Once again, for those who were impatient about the slight delay of this year's new format newsletter, "The Double Reed", we wish to point out that as hard as we all work to bring out each issue on time, there still may be unforeseen problems. If an editor is waiting for the re-sizing of illustrative material to complete an important article (that is what delayed last summer's Journal) or if a busy printer misplaces the list of all-new type styles and page sizes of the brand new newsletter format (the reason for the slight delay of "The Double Reed"), we who prepare the newsletters and Journal for you are very disappointed and probably feel more emotional upset than any of you who have written or phoned to explain your impatience. But our hands are literally tied in such cases. We hope you will agree with us that the end result is in every case a publication of which can be justifiably proud.

We print here again our deadline dates to remind all contributors of the important times for receiving all materials and advertising. If we have a sufficient back-log of feature stories, articles and news times, it can also hasten our editing work and produce publications more quickly. So, be inspired by all that appeals to you in this Journal, prepare your own materials and keep us in constant supply. Thank you again, most sincerely!
