SUE McCOLL--ARTIST and MUSICIAN

(Note: The artist is a very fine bassoonist as well as painter, and is a long-time friend of the Editor.)

Raised on a farm in Michigan, the artist won her first awards in art when only ten years old in a poster contest. She was trained as a bassoonist at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, but continued drawing and made daily excursions to the Philadelphia Art Museum. While living in Puerto Rico, she played bassoon five years in the Puerto Rico Symphony, and during this time had the opportunity to study with noted sculptor, George Warrek.

In Seattle, Washington, she has exhibited in many contests including the Annual Puget Sound Area Exhibition of the Frye Art Museum and has received awards in the Burien Art Festival, and the Seattle Boat Show.
