Beginning with the academic year 1970-71, a special Music Awards Fund has been established at the Southern Illinois University. The amount of the award is full tuition (exclusive of fees) plus a cash stipend of $250.00 .
The award will be granted to a bassoonist in the senior year of high school. Qualifications include: I) Requirement that student study a music major course, and 2) Performing ability is the primary consideration for granting of the award (scholarship and financial need are important but secondary to performance).
