This extensive solo work is a welcome addition to the literature. Wilder makes excellent musical sense, while remaining warmly melodious and rhythmically very interesting.

Concertino for Bassoon and String Trio by Wilson Coker. 1959 (Published by Theodore Presser Co. Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. $3.75.)
Winner of the Koussevitsky Prize for composition in 1959 at the Berkshire Music Center, Tanglewood, mass., this is a dramatic and effective work about 6 1/2 minutes in length.
Concerto for Bassoon and Double Bassoon by Henk Badings.
Mentioned in two issues of the Dutch Music Journal, Sonorum Speculum; a performance in the U.S., as listed: "K. Wagner, Orchestra of the University of California (Davis, Cal.) (Los Angeles, Cal.)" -- and a radio performance: Koninklijke Militaire Kapel, conducted by Rocus van Yperen (Radio AVRO). In both cases, soloists no mentioned!
