RECORDINGS
In addition to listing new and unusual bassoon recordings, I will include
missing information on older recordings which may assist collectors and bassoon
historians. For example, the Sharrow/Vivaldi recordings below are specified "details
unknown" in Lyndesay Langwill's The Bassoon and Contrabassoon. If
any readers have similar "lost" information, I will be pleased to have
it for publication in the newsletters. Thank you.

- Vivaldi, Antonio. Concerto in F Major. (TOMO 266, F. VIII

- Soloist - Leonard Sharrow. Same orchestra and conductor. Also
included with bassoon is the Vivaldi Concerto in D Major for flute, oboe,
violin, bassoon, and continuo - "La Pastorella". The bassoonist is

- Vivaldi, Antonio. Concerto in G Minor. "La Notte"
(TOMO 33, F. XII no. 5, P. 342) Flute, Bassoon, and orchestra.
- Soloists -- Julius Baker, Flute, Elias Carmen, Bassoon.
Same orchestra and conductor. (Musical Heritage Society MHS V/11) Also includes
Concerto for Bassoon in Eb Major (TOMO 273, F. VIII no. 27, P.433) with
Frank Schwartz as soloist.
- Telemann, De Lavigne, Hotteterre, Loeillet. and C.P.E. Bach
Sonatas for Oboe with Bassoon and Harpsichord continuo. "Music For
The Baroque Oboe", played on authentic instruments of the period.
- The artists are: Michel Piguet, Oboe; Hansjurg Lange,
Bassoon; and Lionel Rogg, Harpsichord. The oboe used is three-keyed, by
Jean-Hyacinth -Joseph Rottenburgh (Brussels 1672-1765). The bassoon is
five-keyed, by Prudent a Paris" (approx. 1769- 1773). The performance is
very convincing for music of this period; the old instruments robust and

- Prokofiev, Serge. "Scherzo Humoristique" for Four
Bassoons. On a recording with other humorous works by East European
composers.
- Bassoonists are: Erwin Kretzchmar, Karl-Heinz Angerhofer, Kurt
Thelemann, and Günter Angerhöfer (all with the Leipzig
