Nicholas Kilburn - Toronto, with the Toronto Woodwind Quintet. R. Murray Schafer, "Minnelieder", for mezzo-soprano (Phyllis Mailing) and wind quintet. This lovely and rare chamber work should be less obscure than it is. Write to the composer about arrangement for rental of the music (Communications Dept., Simon Fraser Univ., Burnaby, B.C., Canada). Werner Mauruschat and (son) Peter Mauruschat - Cologne, Germany, with wind ensemble. Mozart Serenades KV 375 and 388. 18th-century wind instruments. (Harmonia Mundi - Europe. No number mentioned.) Will Jansen writes, "the most beautiful recording of these serenades I ever heard."

Music of Mozart, K. 594, 616, and 608 for mechanical organ (arranged by Rechtman), Oedoen Partos - "Nebulae", and Hanoch Jacoby Quintet. This ensemble's first recording. Klaus Thunemann - Berlin. Beethoven Trio in G WoO 37, with Karlheinz Zoller, flute and Aloys Kontarsky, Piano. (Deutsche Grammophone 4 LP Stereo 2720 015.) Part of Beethoven Edition, a special 4-record set including the Septet, Octet, Sextet, Piano Wind Quintet, etc.- a beautiful album, performed by members of the Berlin Philharmonic and Philharmonic Octet.

Christopher Weait - Toronto, Mordechai Rechtman - Tel-Aviv, and Ryohei Nakagawa - New York, all had their wind ensemble transcriptions included on the same recording! (Kaibala Records Stereo 20 B 01. Box 512, Oreland, PA 19075.) We wonder if the other two transcribers featured are also bassoonists!? (Rudolf Moros and Ronald Herder)
