THE IDRS LIBRARY

New Librarian for the IDRS is Bruce Degan, professor of bassoon at the Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa. He is already planning for the best housing of "hard materials," (actual music, recordings, papers, dissertations, articles, etc.) and the ever-growing list of double reed materials and locations throughout the world, helping the library achieve is proposed goals in becoming a valuable and useful organ of the society.

We are eager to see the library grow, particularly in the direction of a collection of unpublished music, not readily available through the usual commercial channels; and to gather rather specialized categories of music, such as trios, quartets, and larger ensembles of double reed music.

IDRS is fortunate in having a scholar (DMA from the Eastman School of Music) and performer (principal bassoon. the Des Moines Symphony) as librarian. Please communicate your thoughts and suggestions to him. Your contributions to the IDRS Library will make it a viable entity. Write to Dr. Degan at the Division of Fine Arts, Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, 50125.
