POLICIES OF THE IDRS

(Determined at two meetings of the 1973 Executive Board August 19-20, 1973. These policies were read, discussed and approved by the members attending the Augustana meeting.)

  1. The fiscal year begins with the calendar year January 1. Membership dues received as late as December entitle the member to the newsletters and Journal of that year -- not the following year. (However --
  2. Back issues of the newsletters may be obtained at $ 1 each (IDRS members - private subscribers of this newsletter pay $1.25 as before. The slight reduction to IDRS members is offered as a further advantage to society membership.) Order directly from the editor of TTWO or TTWB.
  3. Those members who wish to subscribe to both newsletters may do so by paying to the IDRS treasurer an additional $2.25 with membership dues. (Higher printing and mailing costs make this fee necessary.)
  4. Copies of the Journal may be purchased by members for $4.00 (order from Daniel Stolper). Non-members of IDRS may purchase the Journal for $5.00.
  5. Special foreign memberships (for residents of countries other than the USA and Canada) will be available to those interested. The annual fees will be $4.00 plus air mail postage for the three issues of a newsletter, and an additional $4.00 for the Journal.
  6. It was agreed that this editor, Gerald Corey, will gradually phase out USA and Canadian private subscribers to the newsletter, "To The World's Bassoonists." These private subscriptions will be maintained until December 31, 1974, after which time it will be possible to receive the bassoon newsletter (in the USA and Canada) only as a member of IDRS. Those in other countries who wish to maintain subscriptions to this newsletter may do so.
  7. Daniel Stolper will continue to investigate the nonprofit status of the IDRS.
  8. If more than one name is proposed for an office during election of officers, ballots will be mailed to the entire membership.
  9. Interim reports (memoranda) will be sent to the IDRS membership for information between the newsletters and Journal (as requirements and finances permit).
  10. Contributing members of IDRS may receive as many as five extra copies of the Journal.
  11. It was suggested that the 1974 annual meeting be held in conjunction with the International Oboists' Symposium in June in Coral Gables, Florida. This idea is currently in discussion. Definite dates for the 1974 IDRS meeting will be announced in the first newsletters (oboe and bassoon), of 1974, now in preparation.
