- Paul Barrett and Douglas X. Geyer -- students of David Van Hoesen
at the Eastman School (Rochester, NY).
- 4/75. A program consisting entirely of premiere performances: The
Bassoonist's Suite for bassoon alone by Douglas X. Geyer; ABA1CA2Bb F
dim by Paul Barrett; Contrapunctus III by Ted McIrvine (for piano
and percussion); Prelude and Dance by Annette LeSigge; Encounter 2
by David Liptak (for flute, oboe, and clarinet); Sonata for Solo Bassoon
by Allen Gimbel; and Kortillium IX of Edward Ketz (for piano). The
program sent lacked instrumentation for some of the works. For those interested
in new music, a letter to "The Bassoon Class of K. David Van Hoesen,"

should bring a reply.
- Otto Eifert -- Cincinnatti Symphony solo bassoon, professor of
bassoon at the Cincinnatti College-Conservatory of Music and summer bassoon
instructor at Courtenay Youth Music Camp, Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada.
- 4/74. First Cincinnati performance of the Concerto in C Major for
Bassoon and Orchestra of Jan Antonin Kozeluch (1738-1814). Mr. Eifert has
recently completed a new edition of this work with his own cadenzas. It is
published by Elkan-Vogel, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.
- Robert Olson -- Assistant Professor of Bassoon at the University of
Colorado, College of Music at Boulder, CO.
- 9/75. On a faculty recital which included works of Saint-Saens and Poulenc,
a first performance of Two Essays for Bassoon and Percussion by Robert
W. Buggert. The work was written as a birthday present to Mr. Olson who
describes it as, "Playable by a college student easily; the bassoon part is
not too difficult. The percussion part is a bit more difficult." For more

Soprano, Bassoon, and Piano (1970), and Sonatina for Bassoon and Piano, Op.
58 (1968) by Serge de Gastyne.

bassoons -- Bill Douglas (arranged by John Steinmetz), 'Agnus Dei' from Missa
Pange Lingua (4 bassoons) -- Josquin, and Rock Etude No. 10 (extended
version), improvised jazz-rock solos for bassoon, contra, piano and Exaltophone
(or eliminator) -- bassoon bass-joint and bell played like a trumpet -- written

- Christopher Weait -- Co-principal Bassoon, Toronto Symphony.
- 3/75. Receiving the Distinguished Alumnus Citation from the Crane School of
Music, State University College at Potsdam, New York, Mr. Weait performed the
world premiere of the Concerto for Bassoon by Joseph Gallitelli. The
work was written for Mr. Weait in 1964-65.
