- 3/75. Weber's Concerto in F, Op. 75 and the Romance for Bassoon
and Orchestra, Op. 62 of Sir Edward Elgar. With the Slough Philharmonic
Orchestra (England), conducted by David Wilson, who is also a bassoonist.
John Francis - graduate bassoon recital, University of Wisconsin,
Madison, Wisconsin
- 3/75. Sonatas by Besozzi, Etler, and Romeo Cascarino, Rodney Winther's
Bassoon Quartet (see Music Vol. IV, No. 2. Ed.) . . of special interest: two
pieces from Symphoniae Sacrae I of Heinrich Schutz; "In Lectulo Per
Noctes" and "Invenerunt Me Custodes Civitatis," scored for
soprano, alto, 3 bassoons and continuo. Laurie St. Pierre, soprano; Jane Vigue,
alto; the other bassoonists were Angela Brandt, Brian Williams, and Mary
Wylie.
Noah Knepper - IDRS Treasurer and woodwinds professor at Texas
Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas
- 9/74. On a faculty recital devoted to the music of Paul Hindemith, Noah
performed the bassoon Sonata (1938), and also the clarinet, flute, and
English horn sonatas! Bravo! Judith Soloman was at the piano.
John Mostard - Rotterdam Philharmonic, first bassoon
- 4/75. On tour in the U.S.A. with conductor Edo de Waart, Mr. Mostard writes
that he and the members of his quintet (photo shown here) gave seven
performances of Fr. Lindpaintner's Symphony Concertante No. 2, which Mr.
Mostard recently found in a German library.
