DUST-FREE COVER FOR THE REEDUAL

Bassoonists who use the ReeDuAl motorized sanding profiler will be aware of the annoying problem of cane dust blowing all over the work area and also in the breathing area of the machine operator. Here is a simple and practical cover suggestion:

1. Locate a cardboard box, dimensions 16 1/2 inches long (42 cm.), 10 3/4 inches wide (27 cm.) and 10 1/2 inches high (26.5 cm.).

2. Two pieces of glass (picture frame thickness): dimensions 7 by 5 inches (18 by 13 cm.).

3. Cut two holes in the cardboard box, their size: 6 inches by 4 1/4 inch (15.5 by 11 cm.). With the open side of the box downwards, cut the first hole centrally in what will from now on be the TOP of the ReeDuAl cover. The second hole is cut on one long side, starting one inch (2.54 cm.) below the top. Center the hole with respect to the sides. Fix the two glass inserts in place over the holes from the inside of the box. Use a permanent bond cement and several layers of masking tape or strapping tape around the edges.

4. Cut a round or oval-shaped hole on the right side of the box as seen facing the side glass insert (this will be the ReeDuAl cover FRONT). Place the hole as follows: 5 inches (12.5 cm.) below the top, and 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm.) from the left edge (of the side). Install a cloth square: 7 inches by 7 inches (18 by 18 cm.), inside the box to cover this hole. Use wide tape at the top of the cloth to attach.

To use the ReeDuAl with its cover, place a towel under the ReeDuAl, place the cover over the machine with the side glass (FRONT) facing you and the arm hole on your RIGHT.

The absence of a hole on the left side makes it impossible to press against the ReeDuAI table with the left hand, a common mistake in operating the ReeDuAl without a cover.

After using the ReeDuAl each time, remove the cover and vacuum the cane dust from around the machine and cover.
