REFRESHING CHANGE OF PACE DEPARTMENT

Roger Birnstingl, principal bassoon of the London Symphony Orchestra, has been on leave this season to perform as co-principal with the Suisse Romande Orchestra in Geneva, Switzerland.

Leonard Sharrow (former solo bassoon with Toscanini's NBC Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony during the Reiner years) has been selected as the new solo bassoon of the Pittsburgh Symphony. He fills the position vacated by retiring bassoon artist, Arthur Kubey. Best wishes in the years ahead to you from IDRS, Mr. Kubey, and thank you for the memorable performances.

Replacing Leonard Sharrow as lecturer in bassoon at the University of Indiana, Bloomington, Indiana (at least for the school year ahead) is the renowned Mordechai Rechtman of Israel. (Lucky I.U. students!)

As the new principal bassoon of the Israel Philharmonic, Arthur Grossman of Seattle will be departing from one of the world's top wind quintets, the SONI VENTORUM.

And, on leave of absence from the Montreal Symphony, where he is assistant principal bassoon, Sidney Rosenberg will take Mr. Grossman's place with the SONI VENTORUM at the University of Seattle, Washington. Best wishes to you all.
