OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO BASSOONISTS

Sherlock Holmes vs. Bassoonist? On a recent televised film from England in the series of Sherlock Holmes mysteries, at a point where a character representing a pianist/singer comes under brief suspicion for a crime, Holmes remarks to Watson: "The presence of musical talent is no assurance of innocence. As a matter of fact, Professor Moriarty (Holmes' arch-enemy-- Ed.) was a virtuoso on the bassoon."

Charles Lipp -- faculty member of the University of Nevada (Las Vegas), presented a lecture-recital on contemporary bassoon literature at the University of California, San Diego, on January 27, 1977. We may hear in more detail on this subject from this bassoonist/scholar.

William Winstead --"I am delighted to have a full-tuition scholarship available to a freshman "out-of-state" bassoon student starting this Fall. This amounts to approximately $5,000 over four years.
