IDRS JOURNAL No. 5, 1977 . . . Article "Some Notes on the Fingering Systems of "Boehm Bassoons" . . ." (unfortunately, the typesetting machine could not reproduce the signs for sharps, flats and naturals. They were to have been drawn in by hand, but were omitted in many instances. My apologies to readers and to author Jerry L. Voorhees.)
Volume VI, No. 3, 1976 (To The World's Bassoonists). . . front page fingering chart for MOECK baroque bassoon: somehow, although the chart and musical notes were drawn perfectly accurately, during the printing process to the newsletter some extra leger lines appeared in the musical staff, causing confusion as to the proper note names. Except for the lack of a low B natural (fingered) on the Baroque Bassoon and the omitted low C sharp fingering (on this chart a perfectly satisfactory low C sharp may be played on any early bassoon by half-holing the low D (thumb) tone hole) all the remaining tones on the chart are chromatic half steps ascending, i.e., B-flat - low C - low D - low E-flat - E - F - F-sharp - G (appears to be low F on newsletter chart, and error continues progressively) - G-sharp etc. - to upper g'-sharp (the last note on the chart). Most players with bassoon and reed in hand will have already discovered the nature of the errors.
Volume VI, No. 1, 1976 (TTWB). . .page six, photograph of porcelain bassoonist: caption should have read "From a Christmas card of the house of Heckel, Porzellan Figur aus dem Jahre 1768 (Frankenthal). The owner of this doll is bassoonist Gerhard Haase of Stuttgart, W. Germany."
