First Honorary Member

The name of W. Hans Moennig, woodwind artisan-repairer of Philadelphia, was placed in nomination to be the first recipient of Honorary Membership into the International Double Reed Society. The nomination was seconded, and after a short discussion of the legendary work of this gentleman, a vote was taken and carried unanimously. On June 19, 1974, the following telegram was sent to Mr. Moennig: "Happy to announce your election as the first Honorary Member of the International Double Reed Society, June 17, 1974. You have given us more than we can ever repay. Warmest greetings from the Society to you and your family. Gerald Corey, President, I.D.R.S."

Another resolution was made and was formally adopted by the membership. That - "in honor of our past member, the late Lawrence Intravaia, the Library of the Society be named The Lawrence Intravaia Memorial Library of the l.D.R.S." Mr. Intravaia, in addition to being one of our most enthusiastic and supportive members from the beginning of the l.D.R.S., held the position of librarian for the Society's reference library and began the collation of its materials from September, 1972, until the time of his death.

A very gala cocktail party and reception was held at a nearby Holiday Inn and was opened to all the participants of the International Oboe Symposium as well as to l.D.R.S. members. We wish to sincerely thank the following business members of the Society for helping us host this party: Custom Music Company of Royal Oak, Michigan; FOX Products of South Whitley, Indiana; Hans Kreul Division - Miraphone Corporation, Sun Valley, California; and Selmer Division, of Maganavox - Elkhart, Indiana, I.D.R.S. also wishes to express its appreciation to the Robert King Music Co. of North Easton, Massachusetts, who loaned us the entire catalogue of double reed music from Leduc of Paris for display.

Two universities offered their campuses to I.D.R.S. for the 1975 Annual Meeting. The State University of New York at Potsdam and the University of Evansville at Evansville, Indiana. The Executive Committee is in communication with representatives of both schools and will announce the location of the 1975 Annual Meeting at the earliest possible date.
