RAY STILL, first oboist of the Chicago Symphony, will again give master classes at the Stratford Festival in Ontario. Dates are August 23 through August 31. Repertoire to be studied includes the Vivaldi G Minor Sonata, trio sonatas of Telemann and Handel, the Bach Double Concerto, the Beethoven trios, the Mozart and Strauss concerti, the Schumann Romances, and the Poulenc Trio, as well as orchestral studies. The 24th International Music Competition sponsored by the Broadcasting Corporations of the Federal Republic of Germany includes a category for wind quintet. The competition will be held in Munich from September 2 through September 19, 1975. Applicants must be born between the years 1945-1958, with the exception of one member, who may be born between 1940-1958. The required literature includes one work from each of the following three groups: a) Danzi, Op. 56/2 or Reicha, Op. 88/2; b) Ibert or Nielsen or Onslow, Op. 81/3; c) H. Genzmer: Blaserquintett, or Hindemith, Op. 24/2, or Schoenberg, Op. 26 (first movement). Two more works must be chosen from a long list.
