Members are reminded that election of officers will be held at the meeting in Boulder. Election is for two years and all regular members are eligible. Those wishing to submit names to the committee for consideration should read the procedures carefully and contact your nearest committee member.
I.D.R.S. Election Procedures...
A nominating committee shall be appointed by the President of the Society at least ten months prior to the annual convention at which new officers are elected and take office.
The members of the nominating committee shall be announced to the membership in the next I.D.R.S. publication following their appointment or by a separate mailing. In either case, the names and addresses of the committee shall be announced not less than eight months prior to the convention in which new officers are elected and take office.
Members may then submit names for consideration by the nominating
committee.
Prospective nominees will be presented with an excerpt of the by-laws showing duties of the officers and must agree in writing that they understand the duties of the office for which they are running. Before becoming an official candidate, the nominee must submit a short biography to the committee chairman.
Biographies of the candidates will be distributed to the membership either in an I.D.R.S. publication or by separate mailing. In either case, this information should reach the membership not later than three months prior to the convention at which new officers are elected and take office.
Suggested Procedure for the Nominating Committee...
The chairman shall compile a list of suggested persons with any supportive data and distribute this to members of the committee, who shall consider each, pare the list to a reasonable number and return this to the chairman.
The chairman shall then compile a new list with the highest ranking persons retained from the primary list and submit this to the committee who shall rank each in numerical order of preference, and return this to the chairman.
The chairman shall, after proper consultation, establish a slate of two nominees for each office, except by unanimous concensus of the committee to present one name only for an office.
The chairman, or official representative, shall present the report of the nominating committee at the annual convention. At this time the floor will be open to further nominations. The present committee consists of:
