With this issue the Society returns to its original mailing procedures for our publications. Most of the members from outside the North American continent will receive the issue via surface mail. With the cost of each issue being approximately $4.00, and even with the lesser cost of surface rather than air mail, it seems obvious that the Society really is spending your dues on your publications.
Some members chose to pay an extra $10.00 to help defray the expense of air postage. These members, all contributing members, and Honoraries will receive their issues First Class or Via Air.
Hey! NOBODY could possibly send out dues notices without the name of the Society! No Way - NO HOW!
Please do let me know when I goof. Check your name, address, etc., and tell me when something is incorrect. I DO punch the wrong buttons on this computer at times - at other times, I simply go BERSERK!
Thanks to all you members who have already sent in your 1985 dues. Hope I hear from the rest of you shortly. Remember that this first issue of the year goes to all members from 1984 as well as 1985. But please also remember that we can not afford to continue sending free issues after this first one, so do get those dues in as soon as possible. I hope your membership cards are arriving in good shape. I have been a bit hesitant about them wondering if they would arrive in decent shape.
Don't you almost hate to see your supply of 20 cent stamps depleted? I sort of enjoyed adding a "Stravinsky"!
Sometimes I get requests to send "such and such" an issue to a member who thinks he has been missed. If this request comes just when that issue is being mailed, I simply ignore it, figuring that by the time you receive my letter you would already have the issue . If you do NOT get an issue, please do write.
I am forever amazed at the US of A post office who in one actual case would not forward an issue from apartment #64 to apartment #69!
This does point up the importance of sending in your change-of-address as soon as possible.
