The nominating committee of the IDRS presents the following nominees for your consideration as officers in the Society. The list is sparse due to lack of participation by the membership. Additional nominations may be Knepper was the society's second treasurer and has been actively involved with committee work. He now serves the Society as First Vice President.
First Vice President:
William Baker
William Baker is professor of oboe and head of the woodwind section at The Ohio State University School of Music. For sixteen years he was principal with the Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra. Baker is a founding member of the Ohio Wind Quintet and was host for the 1979 IDRS Convention. In 1973 he was recipient oforale and in 1964 was soloist for the Chicago Little Symphony tour under Thor Johnson.
She has played in the Bach Festivals of Carmel, Bethlehem and Barcelona and has also taken part in the Marlboro Music Festivals, the Casals Festivals in Puerto Rico and the Alaska Festival.
With Soni Ventorum she has toured the United States, Canada, South and Central America and Europe.
In 1977 Laila Storch was the guest of honor at the International Double Reed Society annual convention and in March 1979 she took part in the commemorative program for Marcel Tabuteau at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
She has published numerous articles pertaining to oboists and oboe history and has recorded for Columbia, Crystal and Musical Heritage.
2nd Vice President:
Peter Klatt
Peter Klatt's active involvement in the music industry goes back seven years in time. His love for oboe and bassoon, however, dates from his childhood in Germany and caused him to raise two of his three in IDRS, Peter is a member of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the California Band Directors Association (CBDA), and the California Music Educators Association (CMEA). He is a director and officer of the Young Peoples Symphony Orchestra and a retired director of Meadowood Music Camp.
Secretary:
Nancy Fowler
Nancy Fowler is Professor of Oboe at the Florida State University, where she is a charter member of the Tallahassee Woodwind Quintet, the FSU Chamber Orchestra, and thetructional video tape on reed making. As a long time member of the IDRS, she has served as Chairman of the Composition Contest Committee and is currently Secretary of the Society. Instrumental in bringing the '83 Conference to Tallahassee, Nancy will serve as co-host.
