Performed a contrabassoon/composition recital at Bowling Green State University, assisted by Bob Mueller, piano/harpsichord; Phil Berg, oboe; Theresa Delaplain, oboe/English horn; and Roger Kanter, bassoon. Wra, a contemporary of Bach and Handel who wrote hundreds of compositions, dozens of books on music and other subjects, and also worked for years on diplomatic relations between England and Germany."
Sol Schoenbach, 2/18/83. Assisted by John de Lancie, oboe; Donald Montanaro, clarinet, and Mason Jones, horn; performed the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante in Eb Major, K. 297b, with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra conducted by William Hudson at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Washington, D.C. In reviewing the performance, music critic Lawrence Ink stated: "Some of the most beautiful woodwind blends ever heard took place as these four masters meshed their tones and phrases like a single instrument. "
Harry Searing, 4/9 and 4/10/83. Performed the American premiere of the Bassoon Concerto by Jean Francaix with the Flushing Sinfonietta, Richard Nechamkin, conductor at the Bay Terrace Community Center, Bayside and the YM/YWHA of Greater Flushing, New York.
Daniel Smith, 3/11/83. Assisted by the Amphion String Quartet; Niel Tarlton, double bass, and Graeme Humphrey, piano, performed a recital at Wigmore Hall, London. Works included the Introduction and Polonaise for bassoon and strings by J.A.E. Demersseman; the Sonata in F Major for bassoon and piano by William Hurlstone, the Concerto in G Major for bassoon, strings and continuo by Christoph Graupner; the Duetto for bassoon and piano by Christoph Schraffrath; the Lyric Suite for bassoon and piano by Thomas F. Dunhill; and the Concerto F.VIII No. 34 by Vivaldi.
