Topic: Woods in Winter for Soprano, Flute, English Horn, Clarinet and Bassoon
In February 2012, my Longfellow Chorus International Composers Competition premiered one of our several winners that year, "Woods in Winter," a setting of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem by Washington State composer Ray Downey. What is unusual about this piece is the instrumentation: soprano solo, flute, English horn, clarinet and bassoon. I don't think there is anything in the literature written for this combination.
