Topic: PH.D in Bassoon Performance

Greeting to All,

I am currently pursuing my masters degree in bassoon perormance a major state university. After the degree program is complete, I am looking at getting my doctorate in bassoon performance. Can anyone tell me of any schools that they know of that offer a PH.D in bassoon performance. Location is not an issue. Right now just looking for possibilities.

Thanks,

Matt

Find the teacher with whom you most want to study. See where he or she teaches, and go there.

I think you'll find the bassoon teacher is the most important variable.

Re: PH.D in Bassoon Performance

Matt,

Are you sure it is a Ph.D. you are after?  Bassoon performance degrees are usually D. M. A. (Doctor of Musical Arts).  The Ph. D. degree implies a dissertation rather than a series of recitals as the capstone experience.
