Topic: Repair Bocals?

I have a Fox *CVX*2Bocal, silver plated that unfortunately I dented right at the bend of the crook, don't ask how I did it, I feel sick about it.  Here in the Minnesota midwest region there is no one who wants to take on trying to fix it.  Is there someone in the states who does this on a regular basis where the cost of repair  is cheaper and the outcome worthwhile as opposed to buying a new one?  If anyone has a recommendation, I would appreciate it;  Peter Brower  pbrower@mn.rr.com

Either send it to Fox or Marvin Krantz in St. Louis.

Re: Repair Bocals?

Marvin Krantz did an EXCELLENT job on my cracked bocal and his price was quite reasonable. I reccommend him highly.

Re: Repair Bocals?

Don't send it to Fox, please.  That means that I'll get it and I know how little I can do about dents in bocals.  Basically, the policy at Fox is that we don't do dent work on bocals.

There is only one person you should consider for any kind of significant bocal repairs:
Marvin Kranz
St. Louis Woodwind & Brass Instrument Repair
1773 North New Florissant Road
Florissant, MO  63033
(314) 921-0012

Marvin is the master.  I don't know of anyone who approaches what he can do with a damaged bocal.
