Topic: Page Turning Gadget for Outdoor Concerts

I'm sure all of you have had to play an outdoor concert at one time and found it difficult to quickly turn pages especially if it was necessary to use wind clips.  Let's say you have an outdoor concert and you have a multiple page score with (at the most) 5 measures (in 2/4) of rest in any given spot.  It's windy and it's necessary to anchor the music down somehow and you don't have an assistant to turn pages for you.  Has anybody seen or tried any nifty inventions for this situation?  The ideal invention would be cheap, portable, and operated by one hand (or foot!) so you don't have to put your instrument down.  I've seen those computer screens for page turns but alas, my money is already spent on cane.  So far, the see-through wind clips are the best solutions I've seen.

How about a contraption that attaches to the music stand that works like a piano scroll... using one hand, just turn the handle and the next set of pages come into view?  Anyone seen anything like this for sale?

Please send in your suggestions.  Thanks!

If you go to the paper clips section of your local Staples/Office Depot type store they should have brass 3" paper clips that you can slide onto pages and will weigh the pages enough that the wind will not blow the pages around. Just flip pages as normal.

I prefer using a 3 ring binder with these clips so that the center is secured and you just need to secure the outside edges with a clip or two.

They look like this:

lol... they have bigger ones too:

Wow, that looks like a great idea.  I'll check it out tomorrow.  The foot-long paper clips are AMAZING... wish I could think of a reason to use them.  Thanks Stephen!

Re: Page Turning Gadget for Outdoor Concerts

Anytime I have an outdoor concert I copy all of the pages and put them in plastic sheet protectors in a three-ring binder. I can also use cutting and taping to fix bad page turns. Only once has the wind blown one of my pages.
