Topic: Research Study - Survey of Oboe Reed Making in Australia and NZ
Dear fellow oboists,
I am an Honours student from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, currently conducting a research study into reed making. It will find out more about how oboists make their reeds, and the opinions and attitudes that oboists hold towards reed making.
The results will be useful in producing an overview of reed making practices in Australia and New Zealand, and in attempting to determine what factors (if any) contribute to the production of a “good” oboe reed.
All tertiary students, freelancing and professional oboists are invited to participate. If you live in Australia or New Zealand and are interested in participating, all you need to do is complete an online survey (preferably within the next week). You can access the survey - and also find out more information about the study - here:
Please feel free to pass this information on to any oboe colleagues/students that you think might be interested.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
This study has been approved by the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Low Risk Human Research Ethics Committee - your participation is voluntary and all responses will be anonymous.
