Topic: Oboe cane from not-quite perfectly cylindrical tubes

I have a substantial quantity of pre-gouged oboe cane from tubes which were not perfectly cylindrical. For example, one end of a piece will measure 10.5, while the other end measures 10.75. Other pieces differ even more, measuring 10.5 on one end and 11 on the other end.

Has anyone ever tried to make reeds from cane like this? The dealer from whom I obtained the cane will not take it back, saying that nothing is wrong with it.
