Topic: What type of mandrel goes with Stevens' oboe tubes?

What type of mandrel have you found goes with the Stevens' oboe tubes? I've always used a very old Loree mandrel and it seems to work OK. I tried a Pisoni mandrel and the end of the mandrel sticks out past the end of the tube, which I don't really see as being a problem, since otherwise it seems to fit well as far as I can tell. A student of mine needs a mandrel but doesn't want to pay sixty-something dollars for a Loree.

Rigotti?

I asked David Stevens this question about a year ago and it seemed to me that he didn't really have an answer.

Thanks!

Well, this all depends on which size you have, 1 or 2. My old Chudnow mandrel works fine for 2s.

Also, they have a lot of different mandrels and if you tell them which kind you have, they'll make staples that fit it.

I also have a Chudnow mandrel (which is not very old) and it works with the Stevens staples (#2).  When I purchased my Stevens tubes, I was told that if I used a Loree mandrel I should anticipate that the mandrel would stick out the end some.
