I accidently deleted Dan's first post saying that Felix had passed away.  I apologize.

Re: Felix Kraus

Thank you for forwarding this information to all of us.  I studied with Felix Kraus in the early 70s.  It was so sad to hear of his passing.  Sometimes we think our teachers will live forever.  Felix Kraus was the most patient teacher and I owe a lot to him for leading me in a better direction on the oboe.  I had one year in college as a music major and was getting very discouraged about the oboe.  I almost thought I'd switch to a different major.  When the University of Akron said they were going to bring in the 2nd oboist from the Cleveland Orchestra to teach oboe I immediately thought I was going to embarrass myself playing the oboe for him but Felix Kraus was so polite, so helpful, and explained things in a way that I could finally understand.  He was a wonderful musician/teacher and was so humble about it.  I still hear his voice when I'm working on a difficult passage or when I teach.
