Topic: Howarth XL-staples

I am playing a Howarth XL currently.  I want to know what staples and shapes other Howarth players use and the results you get from them.

Re: Howarth XL-staples

I like the Guercio D 11 or D 12 staples most, but if the cane is good any other too....
The shape I use is a Hoertnagl shape which is 7,1 mm at the tip.
With my XL  pitch is always on the low side which is good for me in most cases.
Please write me for details.

Re: Howarth XL-staples

I really like the Chudnow gold S and the gold Winfield staples (you have to get them from Howarth's website, but they're totally worth it!) with a Caleb -1 shape. I got my XL in fall 2010, if that helps, too! I really like the polished and clear sound that the metal staples give, as well as the projection and vibrancy. The Winfield staples can be a bit tricky to get used to, but are really great - I find that they have a lot of depth and warmth and reeds seem to last forever on them.
