Topic: Help me identify this oboe shaper tip

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify what brand this shaper tip is.

(if putting a picture in a post isn't allowed, I apologize and I'll take it down and put up a link instead)

Thank you so much for any help you may give!

Try Bob Hubbard at http://www.westwinddoublereed.com/.  He solved a shaper tip mystery for me.  Frankly, the base [of the tip] looks awfully familiar.  I can't pull the name out.

Best of Luck,

I was told it is a Mack shaper tip but it doesn't look like one to me. (in regards to what I've been able to google)

Re: Help me identify this oboe shaper tip

Hi, Jessica -

I doubt that it is a Mack tip. Most of Mack's tips were made for him (and others) by Freddie Pfeifer, until Bob Gilbert asked me to copy one of them for his shop (now RDG Woodwinds). That led to the current rdg/Mack, rdg/Mack+ and rdg/Mack++.

The flare at the bottom is more typical of European tips, and the stamp is distinctive and should allow someone to recognize it. I'm sorry, I don't. My guess would be Pisoni. Check the picture in the Hodge Products catalog:

I have no idea what the B would signify...
