has anyone tried them? just curious how they stack up to all the others out there.

I really like them! I use the Chudnow S tubes and in comparison, I find the Winfield's are more full and beefier (for lack of a better description) - a tad darker, too. The only problem I've had is that sometimes I can't get reeds to seal properly on them; they sometimes require that "perfect" piece of cane. However, when you get a good reed on them, it's a REALLY good reed that lasts and is quite versatile (I'm currently playing on a Howarth XL with a caleb -1 shape).
As far as price goes, I'm in the U.S. and get them from the Howarth website. They cost about the same, give or take, as the Chudnow, and the shipping isn't terribly expensive. Hope that helps!
