Topic: Gashes in bassoon: best way to repair?
Hello everyone. One of my students came to their lesson the other day and I noticed that a big chunk of wood out of their bassoon was missing on the wing joint around where the D flick key is. It looked to be about 2-3 inches long and doesn't appear to go into the bore, however it does look deep and is quite unsettling to look at. The school said they want to repair the damage, and was wondering what would be the best way to fix it. The student mentioned they have the piece that fell off, but I don't know what condition it's in, or even if it's the entire piece. Any help would be appreciated.
